I started looking for more carvers and found Barre Pinske Studio, where he does more than just chainsaw carving; he makes molds and casts different things, using various materials. He has clients like Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, my favorite band, and much more. He was a real inspiration and I had the pleasure of working with him for a few weeks. Then, I met the Boni brothers, and they put on a chainsaw carving rendezvous. Reaching through the Internet and local connections, it is one of the biggest chainsaw carving events.
I've been very lucky to have met artists from all over the world, and I've had the pleasure of carving with some of the best. I've expanded my skills to include ice sculpture, working part-time for Atlantic Ice Sculpture, dealing with all aspects of the trade, from custom design, to carving, delivery and set-up for all occasions.
I presently have been producing videos of these great people and this amazing trade. Copies of my tapes are available for purchase here on my website.
I have a very deep passion for what I do. I have to thank God, my wife Janet, and my two children, Amy and Kristen, for their support. I'm also thankful to my fellow carvers. Without them, I would have never gotten this far.
Hi, my name is Wayne DeMoranville. I was born in Middleboro, Massachusetts, and raised in Lakeville, about 20 minutes from Cape Cod. I started out doing masonry. My father was a mason, and he started teaching me the trade as soon as I could drag a cement block. I was self employed in that field for 12 years, specializing in all types of masonry. I especially enjoyed the custom stone and brickwork that would allow me to express my creativity.
That's when people first started calling me an artist. I was looking for a career change, and I prayed to God I'd find something I really enjoyed. I went to a fair and found a wooden feather on the ground. Just then, Dennis Beach fired up his chainsaw. He carved a beaver in a tree, and by the end of the show, I knew that's what I wanted to do. I've done chainsaw carving ever since.
